Company is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (Backend QA) who is passionate about building scalable test automation frameworks and ensuring the quality of distributed backend systems. This role requires strong expertise in microservices testing, API automation, ephemeral test environments, and end-to-end backend validation. As a Senior Backend QA, you will own the quality strategy for one or more backend services, collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams, and lead testing initiatives across complex distributed systems. You will be expected to drive automation, improve release confidence, and mentor engineers on quality best practices.

Experience :

• 5–8 years of experience in Software Testing with a strong focus on Backend/API Automation.

• Hands-on experience testing Microservices-based architectures.

• Strong expertise in REST API testing using tools/frameworks such as REST Assured, HTTP Client,

Postman, or similar.

• Excellent programming skills in Java with hands-on experience building scalable automation

frameworks.

• Strong experience with TestNG, Maven/Gradle, JUnit, and CI/CD integration.

• Experience validating asynchronous workflows involving Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or other

messaging systems is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of SQL, relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle), and

writing complex queries and joins.

• Experience with NoSQL databases(MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, etc.) is a plus.

• Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized applications.

• Hands-on experience validating applications deployed in Ephemeral Environments or

dynamic test environments.

• Understanding of contract testing, service virtualization, and mocking tools (WireMock,

Pact, etc.) is an advantage.

• Familiarity with cloud platformssuch as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Good understanding of distributed systems, observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus,

Kibana, Splunk), and log analysis.

• Knowledge of performance and resilience testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or k6 is a plus.

• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Shell scripting is desirable.

• Strong understanding ofsoftware design principles and test automation design patterns.

What You’ll Do :

• Own the end-to-end QA strategy for backend services and microservices.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworksfor API and backend testing.

• Lead testing efforts across multiple services and ensure comprehensive functional,

integration, regression, and end-to-end coverage.

• Define and execute automation strategies for microservices, event-driven architectures, and

distributed systems.

• Build automation pipelines that integrate seamlessly into CI/CD workflows.

• Validate deployments in ephemeral environments and ensure production-like quality gates

before release.

• Develop automated validation for asynchronous communication, messaging queues, and

event-driven workflows.

• Collaborate closely with developers during feature development to drive shift-left testing

practices.

• Identify quality risks early and recommend improvementsto architecture, testability, and

deployment processes.

• Review automation code, mentor QA engineers, and establish engineering best practices

across the team.

• Track and improve automation coverage, execution time,stability, and release quality metrics.

• Work with Engineering, DevOps, and Product stakeholders to ensure high-quality, reliable,

and scalable backend systems.

Mandatory:

• Min 5+ year of hands-on experience as an SDET with Backend/API Automation Testing,

• Strong hands-on experience in API using Postman and API Automation using Rest Assured.

• Must have Skills and Tools: Rest Assured, Postman, Microservices-based architectures, REST

API testing, Java, TestNG, Maven/Gradle, JUnit, CI/CD, Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQL (Complex

queries of Joins), Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, JMeter
